The Worshipful Master's Lady's Charity  [13/14]

Rachel, The Worshipful Master's Lady for 2013/14, chose Yorkshire Cancer Research as her nominated charity for the Masonic year.

The Ladies of the Lodge meet once a month on the same evening as the Lodge night, During the last year they enjoyed meals at restaurants in the local area as well as fund raising evenings held at some of the ladies' homes. These  included a Pamper Evening, a clothes swish night, a Jewellery Evening and a Nibbles and Natter Night.

Proceeds from the raffle held at the 2013 Lodge of St Michael Ladies Evening and a share of the Race Night profits enhanced the total, and following the St. George's Night celebrations on April 26th Rachel was delighted to send a cheque to Yorkshire Cancer Research for £526. Rachel would like to thank all the ladies for their friendship and generosity throughout the year, and for the support they have given to this very worthy charity. "St. George's was a fabulous evening," she said after the guests had gone home, "and a great finale to our year."

St. George's Night was held at the Masonic Hall, Beverley Road in Hull on Saturday 26th April 2014 with the 90 guests raising £700 for the Royal British Legion.

The Worshipful Master, W. Bro. Wheeldon, nominated the Royal British Legion as his chosen charity for the evening as 2014 was the centenary of the commencement of the First World War. As the British Legion, as it was then, was founded by British veterans in the aftermath of that War there could be no more fitting beneficiary on that particularly patriotic evening.

The Race Night held on Saturday 1st February 2014 realised a total of £240. £120 was donated to the Moghissi Laser Trust with the remaining £120 being donated to the Worshipful Master's Lady's Charity ~ Yorkshire Cancer Research.
